I'm receiving many emails every month asking about my studio setup so I decided to post a little compendium with some information on my computers, photographic equipment and lights. My little Soho (small office / home office) is not changed since 2012. Just more Artbooks and a couple of new posters on the walls :)
My post production unit is a PC based on a Window 7 64 bit. A quad core i7 cpu with 32 gbyte of super fast Ram and two Nvidia GTX780ti graphic cards in SLI configuration.
All my backups are stored on several terabytes of Nas in Raid configuration connected to my computer with a gigabyte lan. I also have a couple of RAID 1 SSD portable storage devices to backup files during assignments.
The most important files are also stored on external hard drives located in a secure location.
The main studio portfolio is also stored in Tif and Jpg formats on two cloud accounts (Dropbox and Google Drive).
I do all my post production and 3D renderings using a Wacom Cintiq 22HD as a tablet and monitor. I have also a second monitor that I use for video and previews: a 40" LG TV/Monitor.
I’m working with the Adobe Creative Cloud environment (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, After Effect and so on..).
My laptop is a 15″ MacbookPro Retina with 16 Gbyte of Ram connected to a Wacom Intuos 5 M tablet. I have also an i7 Mac Mini 2012 with 16 gbyte of ram.
The complete Adobe Suite is also on the Macs, along with Motion and Final Cut X.
Antonella, the Studio manager works on an i5 Mac Mini 2012, 16 Gbyte of Ram a Dell UltraSharp U2412M Monitor and a Wacom Intuos 5 M tablet.
Talking about photo gears I work with Leica cameras for my Street Photography and Canon cameras for my studio assignments.
The Leica Street Photography setup is made of a Leica MP, a Leica M typ 240 with several lenses and the new Leica Q (my Q review is here).
The Canon studio setup is made of two 5D Mark III and a Canon 70D for video. Several Canon prime and zoom lenses and few Manual focus Nikon lenses (mainly for video).
Two Elinchrom Quadra RX portable sets (4 heads), 5 led lights panels and 4 big studio strobes are my location and studio light equipment.
My daylight studio is made of a big limbo (big enough for a medium sized car), make up room, storage and offices. This where I host my Portrait and Post production Workshops.
Besides work equipment as you can notice from the picture above I’m a videogame / Scifi Movie / Comic addicted. All around the office you can see movies, books and several consoles: PS4, XBOX One, Xbox360, PS3, PS2, PS Vita, Wii, Gamecube, 3DS and many more devices (I'm a retrogamer as well).
