Nicola, a VSCO for Adobe Camera Raw portrait

A little test with VSCO presets for Adobe Camera Raw 7. This is a portrait of Nicola Sorcinelli made with a Canon 5D MKIII and a Canon 85mm 1.8 AF lens. The light is coming from a window on the right of the frame.

I opened the file in ACR for Photoshop CS6 and without touching any setting I applied a Kodak Trix+ preset with a Creamy Hilights pass.

Few strokes of skin cleaning and here we are.

I just got VSCO and VSCO 2 presets for Camera Raw and Lightroom. They look really good and soon I’ll try to test them on video.

My Soho: where I work and equipment

My Soho: where I work and equipment

I receive several emails every months asking about my setup so I decided to post a little compendium with some information on my gear.

As you can see here we have my little Soho (small office / home office). When I’m not shooting I spend several hours every day in this room :)

I mainly do my post production on a Window 7 64 bit pc. A quad core i7 with 32 gbyte of Ram and a GTX 580 graphic card. Several terabytes of raid hard drives and two SSD all around the office. I have a second backup of the most important files in another secure location.

I do all my post production and 3D work using a Wacom Cintiq 21UX. I have a second monitor (a 40″ LED TV) for a bigger visual (..and videogames!).

I’m working with the Adobe Creative Cloud environment (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, After Effect and so on..).

For 3D Renderings I just chose Luxology Modo 601 and ZBrush, but I’m still in the beginning so it’s training time. I’m also learning to use Blender 3D.

My laptop is a 13″ MacbookPro with 8 Gbyte of Ram with which i use a Wacom Intuos 5 M tablet.

The complete Adobe Suite is also on the Mac, along with Motion and Final Cut X.

I work mainly with Canon Cameras. I own a 5D Mark III and a 5D Mark II. Several Canon prime and zoom lenses and few Manual focus Nikon lenses that I use for video.

Two Elinchrom quadra RX portable sets (4 heads), 5 little led lights panel and 4 big studio strobes are my studio and location light equipment.

I also use a Fuji X100 that I take with me when I take a walk to shoot some street photography.

As you can notice I’m a videogame / Scifi Movie / Comic addicted. All around the office you can see an Xbox360, PS3, PS2, PS Vita, Wii, Gamecube, 3DS and many more… (also a lot of retrocomputers but they are in the Studio garage).

That’s all.

VSCO Film Presets for Lightroom 4

VSCO Film Presets for Lightroom 4

I read several posts on the internet about those presets. So i decided to try them by myself. I purchased the LightRoom 4.0 version.

As you can see from this Canon 5D MKII image i took in  the Korogocho Bidonville just outside of Nairobi in Kenya. I tried several presets but for this particular image i used the Kodak Portra 400.

I was really pleased by the result i got. I processed few more images with this preset and loaded them in the Street Photography gallery of my website.

You can download them here: VSCO FILM

Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop CS6

Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop CS6

This morning I decided to try the new Adobe’s new Creative Cloud offering. I opted in for a full 12 months subscription at 47,99 euro every month. It’s a very good deal because for that price you can download all the Adobe software (Photoshop, Premiere, Dreamweaver, After Effect and so on…) and keep it updated.

I downloaded first Photoshop CS6 and everything worked fine. An account can have Windows and Mac versions installed on two machines, and you’ll get software updates as and when they’re ready, rather than waiting for the next full release.

Great work Adobe.
